FAQ
What is a "Quote"?
Throughout the app, "Quote" and "Estimate" mean the same thing and are used interchangeably. When you see either term, it refers to the same document you send to your clients.
How do credits work?
1 credit = 1 send. Each time you send an estimate or invoice, 1 credit is deducted — regardless of how many pages the document is. A 10-page estimate with photos and line items still costs just 1 credit to send. Resending the exact same unchanged document (e.g., if it bounced, or you just fixed the client's email address) is always free and does not require an active balance — but any content changes (like editing line items, or adding payments or change orders) count as a new send and cost 1 credit.
What is an "active balance" and why is it required?
An active balance means you have at least 1 credit remaining and those credits have not expired yet. Both conditions must be true — credits with a zero count or a past expiration date are considered inactive.
An active balance is required to download PDFs — this is free but requires an active balance to access. Think of it as your access pass: as long as your balance is active, downloads are unlocked at no extra cost. Resending unchanged documents is always free and does not require an active balance.
This model keeps pricing fair — you pay once per document sent (1 credit = 1 send), and everything else stays free for as long as your credits last. No monthly subscription required.
Credit Expiry
Credits expire based on your plan: 30 days (8 Credits), 45 days (16 Credits), or 60 days (32 Credits).
We know expiration isn't always popular — but here's our thinking: many apps reset or charge you every single month whether you use them or not. We don't do that. Instead, you buy only what you need, when you need it. The trade-off is a reasonable expiry window to keep things fair on our end.
We've built those windows to be generous on purpose. 8 credits gives you a full month — plenty of time to send a handful of estimates. The 16-credit pack stretches to 45 days, and the 32-credit pack gives you 60 days. If you're a contractor sending a few documents a week, these windows are designed so you're never scrambling. We'd rather you feel good about the purchase than feel pressured to use it fast.
Can I download PDFs?
Yes — PDF downloads require an active credit balance but do not deduct credits. Only sending documents costs credits. If your balance expires or reaches zero, downloads are locked until you purchase more credits.
Can I copy a PDF link to share via text or messaging?
Yes — the "Copy Link / Text" button generates a shareable PDF link you can paste into any message or text. This requires an active credit balance but does not deduct any credits. It's a free perk of having an active account, letting you share estimates and invoices directly without sending via email.
Can I resend documents?
Yes — resending the exact same unchanged document is always free and does not require an active credit balance. Simple corrections, like fixing a client's email address, also stay free. However, if you make a content change — like editing line items, adding payments, or adding change orders — it counts as a new send and costs 1 credit.
What is invoice balance tracking?
Invoice balance tracking lets you record payments and monitor what clients owe. An active credit balance is required to send invoices. Each invoice send costs 1 credit — including resends if you've added new payments or change orders.
How do I track change orders?
Change orders let you add additional work or costs to an invoice after it's been created. Simply use the Change Orders section on the invoice detail page to add line items — the balance due updates automatically.
What happens if I run out of credits?
You can still create and preview estimates, but sending and downloading require an active credit balance. Simply purchase more credits on this page to continue.
How is my data stored?
We securely store your client information, estimates, and invoices so you can access your business records anytime. While your account is active — meaning you hold an active credit balance — your data is kept indefinitely. If your account becomes inactive (no credit purchase or activity for 6 months / 180 days), we may delete your stored records to keep our systems lean, unless you delete your account sooner.
FrugalQuote reserves the right to suspend or cancel data storage at any time, in accordance with our terms of service.
Why FrugalQuote?
FrugalQuote is built around the idea of keeping your costs lean and in your control. There are no monthly subscriptions, no recurring charges, and no surprises on your bill. You buy credits when you need them and use them at your own pace. The pay-as-you-go model isn't a limitation — it's the whole point. We believe contractors shouldn't have to pay for a tool every month but use it at their own rate.
